Abstract
Maine's Catholic diocese has filed an amicus curiae brief with the Maine Supreme Judicial Court charging that Austin J. DeCoster, the owner of DeCoster Egg Farm in Turner, violated the civil rights of farm workers at the egg farm by restricting their freedom to worship and intimidating visitors. The Supreme Judicial Court in September will hear DeCoster's appeal of a 1992 Superior Court ruling that found the farm did violate the civil rights of workers. It has been at least a decade since the diocese has filed such a brief. Details.
