Jill Eastman, 14, of Windham, yesterday was awarded a four-year, $34,000 college scholarship by Colgate-Palmolive Co. for her essay "What a College Education Means to the Future of America." Eastman's essay was judged one of the four best out of around 6,000 entries in the company's contest for 9- to 18-year olds. Details.
