Abstract

The state Public Utilities Commission has rejected a proposal by Nynex to reduce the cost of in-state long-distance telephone service while increasing basic residential rates. The increase in the basic service rate would have resulted in monthly charges rising around $3 per month, from the current $12 to $15. A NYNEX spokesman said he was not aware of any company plans to appeal the ruling. Details.
