Abstract

A regional symposium on global warming was held in Portland, and speakers warned that legislators and policy-makers cannot afford to defer action. Officials from Maine, Massachusetts and the Maritime Provinces said anticipated climate changes would affect important sectors of the region's economy, but that changes could be both beneficial and detrimental.
