Abstract

A reforestation project supported by the Maine Department of Transportation is designed to create a buffer of trees and shrubs around Mill Brook in Scarborough, on an 18-acre parcel which the previous owner cleared of trees and stripped of topsoil. The $400,000 project will both satisfy federal rules regarding the replacement of wetlands lost through a turnpike project and help to restore a damaged environment.
