Abstract
Funeral directors across northern New England are preparing for their busiest season of the year, when the spring thaw allows the burial of those who died during the winter. One funeral director with offices in Van Buren and Ashland estimates that 50 percent of his annual burials take place during a three-week period in May. An estimated 80 percent of burials for winter deaths in northern Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont are delayed until the spring. Details.
