Abstract

Regional Waste Systems paid an independent laboratory to perform water quality tests on samples taken from 11 wells near the RWS landfill in Scarborough, and the results seem to dispute allegations that the landfill is polluting groundwater in the area. One well showed elevated levels of sodium, while five others had slightly elevated levels of manganese, but an official with the state Department of Environmental Protection said the results shouldn't cause any alarm.
