Abstract

ImmuCell Corp., a small Portland biotechnology company, and Dr. Carolyn Petersen, a California physician, will share a $446,000 federal grant aimed at developing a vaccine against a sometimes-fatal intestinal disease that can strike AIDS patients, killing up to 60 percent of those afflicted. The grant is important to ImmuCell because it proves its ideas are considered commercially viable and because it draws the attention of potential investors.
