Abstract

ImmuCell Corp. of Portland has received a $210,000 payment from Univax Biologics Inc. of Rockville, Md., toward the development of CryptoGAM, a milk-based drug that fights infection in AIDS patients. Univax since 1992 has provided a total of $850,000 to ImmuCell and underwritten the cost of clinical trials for the antibody treatment. The anitbody fights cryptosporidium parvum, a bacterium that causes chronic and life-threatening diarrhea in many patients with AIDS.
