Abstract

Roberto Theodore, 28, who is serving an 18-month sentence for trafficking in cocaine, believes there is a difference between a criminal and a crook. To prove his point, when he found a handbag filled with credit and bank cards and other things belonging to Debbie Butterworth among the recyclables at Regional Waste Systems in Portland where he has a prison work-release job, he returned them to their owner. The handbag had been stolen from Buttersworth's truck in Scarborough. Before tossing it in a recycling bin, the thief stripped it of $75.00 in cash, two checks, and some postage stamps.
