Abstract

Consumers Water Co. yesterday announced first-quarter earnings of $1.1 million, as compared to earnings of $1.8 million during the same period in 1993. The utility blamed the decrease in earnings on the severe winter, which resulted in broken water mains and other mechanical problems. Consumers in 1993 took a $5 million charge against earnings when it disposed of Burlington Homes, its last non-utility subsidiary. Details.
