Abstract

Edwards Manufacturing Co. has agreed out of court to pay a $20,000 penalty over the death of 600,000 alewives that died about two years ago when company workers lowered the water level at the Edwards Dam in Augusta, causing the fish to suffocate. In paying the penalty, Edwards admitted only that an incident occurred and that the fish died.
