Abstract

Kennebunk town officials are appealing to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court to prevent C.N. Brown Co. from converting a gas station on Western Avenue to an all-night convenience store. A Superior Court judge last year ruled that the town's zoning board illegally denied the company a building permit in 1992. Neighbors in the area fear that the proposed Big Apple store will ruin the small-town atmosphere, and are concerned about traffic congestion.
