Abstract

The city of Portland is reorganizing the Department of Parks and Public Works, which will result in a smaller public works department and a new Department of Parks and Recreation. George A. Flaherty, current public works director, will be moved to a new position that will involve planning for environmental work, waste management, recycling and other major projects. The reorganization is the first change to emerge from City Manager Robert B. Ganley's initiative to reinvent city government. Details.
