Abstract

A jury yesterday freed the city of South Portland from liability in the death of Thomas H. Fisher, 31, of Portland, who died on the city's municipal golf course in 1990 after being struck by lightning. Deborah L. Fisher, Fisher's widow, had charged the city with negligence for not taking steps to protect golfers from lightning. The jury found that Fisher's role in the accident was more important in his death than the city's role. Details.
