Abstract

Workers have begun a $564,000 project to restore the stone wall that surrounds the State House in Augusta. The project, which will cost nearly four times as much as the entire State House cost to build, is expected to be completed by September. The crumbling wall will be dismantled block by block, and then crowned with a 4-foot, cast iron fence after it is reconstructed. Details.
