Abstract

Workers yesterday began pouring the first concrete for the new Portland-South Portland Bridge, and 4,000 cubic yards will be poured during the 24-hour job. The concrete is something of a milestone, being the first concrete placement of the bridge, and will form a seal that will support the foundation of the north pier of the structure. At least 100,000 cubic yards of concrete will be poured during the construction of the bridge. Details.
