Abstract

The Maine Audubon Society and the Natural Resources Council of Maine have both criticized "Finding Common Ground," the draft report of the Northern Forest Lands Council that recommends ways to preserve the woodlands of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. The report was characterized as maintaining the status quo, and the council was said to have shown a lack of resolve for not addressing the issues of clear-cutting, herbicide use and biodiversity.
