Abstract

Four Seasons Greenhouses in Cumberland, the state's largest geranium wholesaler, was hit by Bacteria Wilt of Geraniums, forcing owner Pamela Haynes to destroy 250,000 4 1/2-inch plants. The plants constituted an entire year's supply, and were valued at $300,000. The bacteria has struck a number of greenhouses in the country this year, but Four Seasons was the hardest hit in Maine.
