Abstract

Long article describing the daily life of Pamela and Edward McDonough of Wells. The McDonoughs are the parents of two-year-old Patrick, who was diagnosed in November with acute myelofibrosis, a rare form of leukemia. Patrick underwent a bone-marrow transplant at Boston's Children's Hospital a month ago, implanted with marrow from a woman who was not a perfect match. At first, the child's recovery was excellent; now his future is less certain.
