Abstract

The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and Museum hopes to have a 300- to 400-foot working rail section in place in time for Railfair '94, the group's second annual railroad extravaganza on June 18. The eventual plan is to have 1.1 miles of track from India Street around the Eastern Promenade to Fish Point, but some residents of Munjoy Hill have raised objections that the railroad would cause noise, pollution and safety problems. The Portland Planning Board will consider the matter next month.
