Abstract

Maine is one of only 17 states in the country taking part in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's food-stamps-in-restaurants program, which allows food stamp recipients who are at least 60, their spouses, disabled individuals on Supplemental Security Income and the homeless to use food stamps in certified restaurants. Maine is among the most active states in the program, with more than three dozen restaurants participating. Details.
