Abstract

James B. Shaffer, president and chief executive officer of Guy Gannett Communications, announced yesterday that Bruce J. Gensmer, 49, has been named president of The Portland Newspapers, effective June 1. He replaces Chris Harte, whose departure is attributed to "differences of opinion." Until October 1993, Gensmer served as senior vice president and business manager of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
