Abstract

Vicki Van Meter, 12, of Meadville, Penn., was in Maine yesterday as her single-engine Cessna 210 was outfitted with an extra fuel tank for her planned flight across the Atlantic. Van Meter plans to follow the same general flight plan as Amelia Earhart did in 1932, when she became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. Van Meter will set off from Augusta, with stops in Greenland and Iceland before arriving in Glasgow, Scotland. Details.
