Abstract

The Maine Arts Commission last week announced $448,575 worth of grants for the 1994-95 fiscal year, with a logging festival in Rangeley and a film about the Wabanaki people some of the projects receiving funding. Under new grant guidelines, annual institutional grants to big organizations have been discontinued, with smaller grants and a handful of big grants for specific projects or artworks being awarded instead. Two art groups, the Portland Symphony Orchestra and the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, had their requests denied. Details.
