Abstract

There have been seven thefts of old flower urns from cemeteries in southern Maine reported over the last month, including two metal urns from Portland's Evergreen Cemetery and four urns from Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. Depending on their condition, some urns can command $150 on the antique market. Southern New England five years ago experienced a rash of cemetery art thefts, and some observers fear the recent thefts in Maine mean the underground market is moving into this state. Details.
