Abstract

Woodside Elementary School in Topsham one year ago instituted the "Super K" early intervention pilot program, aimed at kindergarten age children who lacked the social skills of their peers. The 13 children in the program had a variety of problems, including wandering attention spans and aggressive behavior, and most had been in the Pejepscot School Head Start Program. During a five-month period, the children's scores on a standard 49-point test rose an average of 20 points, and children, parents and school officials are raving about the program. Details.
