Abstract

Edward I. Johnston, 40, of Readfield, on Tuesday submitted his resignation as representative to the Northern Forest Lands Council, a position which he held for 8 1/2 years. Also on Tuesday, Johnston resigned as president of the Maine Forest Products Council, a 1,200-member trade group representing individuals in the forest products industry. Gov. McKernan is expected to name Roger Milliken, a forest owner from Cumberland, to Johnston's seat on the Northern Forest Lands Council. The council in November issued its draft recommendations for the forest, and is set to begin work on final recommendations for regional forest policies. Details.
