Abstract

The federal Economic Development Administration has awarded the town of Pittsfield $680,000 to help fund the completion of the new Technology Center for General Signal Building Systems Corp. The new center will test company products, which include computer-based fire alarm systems, smoke and heat detectors and emergency lighting and exit signs. The establishment of the new center will protect more than 530 jobs and create around 95 new jobs.
