Abstract

The Coast Guard yesterday received a Mayday call reporting a gunfight off Orrs Island that left one lobsterman dead and others wounded. The caller said he was aboard the Sunrise, a lobster boat, that was being attacked by men aboard the Workman's Comp because of a dispute involving lobster traps. The call, now believed to be a hoax, is expected to end up costing more than $50,000 in staff time and the use of rescue boats and helicopters.
