Abstract

Portland is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of auto break-ins. Thieves broke into 83 cars in May 1993, compared to 171 cars last month. The value of goods stolen rose from $32,160 in May 1993 to $75,450 in May 1994. Local police are cautioning auto owners to remove all valuables from their vehicles. Details.
