Abstract

Portland lawyer Thomas Allen, who finished second among five candidates in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, has emerged from the primary elections with the biggest debt of any of the eleven defeated gubernatorial candidates. Allen owes between $140,000 and $150,000, while Republican Sumner Lipman of Augusta owes more than $125,000, the second-largest debt. Details.
