Abstract

One of a series of articles on southern Maine's high school class of 1994. This article focuses on adults who perservered to obtain their diplomas. Those featured include Liliana Donatelli, 48, the co-owner of a laundramat on Portland's Munjoy Hill, and William Hoffman III, 28, of Westbrook. Donatelli is an Italian native who wanted to learn read English story books to her grandchildren and Hoffman hopes that education will provide an escape from manual labor. He has already enrolled at Andover College and Donatelli is thinking about taking some classes at the University of Southern Maine.
