Abstract

Article about problems encountered in transforming a 92-year-old former officers' quarters building at Southern Maine Technical College in South Portland into the Inn at Spring Point, which is also known as the Peter A. McKernan Hospitality Center. The Inn, which opens this weekend, was restored as a turn-of-century hotel, serves a a training center for technical college students in hotel-related majors, and is considered the "shining star" on the South Portland campus.
