Abstract

The Maine State Music Theatre opens its 36th season with the multi-award-winning musical "1776" in honor of Bowdoin College's bicentennial. The play, directed by Bruce Lumpkin, with music directed by Douglas Coates, is history, authentic in essence if not in every detail, enhanced by well-conceived music, delightfully sung and painlessly instructive.
