Abstract
The city of South Portland began advertising for a new police chief on May 15, but to date has only received seven applications. The deadline for applicants was recently extended two weeks, to July 5, and city officials expect more people to apply for the position. The city of Westbrook is also searching for a new police chief, and received applications from 69 individuals after advertising for three weeks. The South Portland police department recently was embroiled in a controversy involving discrimination against a female detective. Details.
