Abstract

Employment figures for March, the latest figures available, put Maine's seasonally adjusted employment at 521,200, 13,100 more than in March 1992 but 24,000 below the state's all-time peak of 545,200 in 1989. National figures show the country has 111.8 million jobs, 3.7 million more than at the depth of the recession and 1.9 million higher than the previous record. While there is across-the-board growth on the national level, overall employment in Maine is lagging. Details.
