Abstract

Officials with the Maine Attorney General's Office and the Maine Secretary of State's office have concluded that the issue of Susan Collins' residency in Maine will not keep her off the November ballot as the Republican candidate for governor. The Maine Constitution says the governor must have been a resident of the state for five years, and some had questioned Collins' qualifications because she left Maine in 1992 to work for the state treasurer in Massachusetts.
