Abstract

The New England Seafarers Mission of Boston has for five years provided cheap and easy telephone calls to homes around the world for the crew members of ships docking in Portland. Crews at sea find telephone calls via satellite too expensive, so the Christian-based mission's service is especially appreciated. Volunteers at the Portland station come mainly from the Christchurch Evangelical Covenant Church and St. Ansgar Evangelical Lutheran Church. Details.
