Abstract

The New England Economic Project, which compiles economic forecasts for the region, predicts that Maine will add in excess of 30,000 jobs through 1998, outpacing growth in the work force by 6,000 jobs. The unemployment rate is expected to decrease from the projected level of 8.3 percent for 1994 to a projected 7.1 percent in 1998. The state's predicted annual job growth of 1.7 percent will be below the national average of 2.1 percent. Details.
