Abstract
The town of Alna and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts have reached a compromise in the year-long battle over a 19th-century militia drum. The drum was donated to the museum by a Massachusetts resident in 1986, and the town in 1993 asked to borrow it for the town's bicentennial celebration. The museum denied the request, but the threat of legal action convinced museum officals to loan the drum to the town. Details.
