Abstract

Eight retailers in downtown Old Orchard Beach yesterday were charged with selling unlicensed merchandise, and police seized clothing worth at least $250,000. Oakley of California, a sunglasses manufacturer that sells clothing bearing its logo, initiated the investigation, which followed a similar investigation in Florida. Officials say the stores violated Oakley's trademark by illegally marketing clothes with Oakley iron-on decals.
