Abstract

Maine's 1992 birth rate decreased to 44 births per day, from 45.9 births per day in 1991. A drop in teenage pregnancies, the recession and aging baby boomers were some of the reasons given for the decrease. Marriages in 1992 occurred at a rate of 31 per day, as compared to 27.2 per day in 1991, while divorces or annulments averaged 17 per day in 1992. Details.
