Abstract

The Maine State Retirement System has around 250 plans for cities, towns, non-teaching school employees and water districts throughout the state, and is currently in the process of consolidating all of them into a single, upgraded plan. Sixty-three employers have enrolled in the consolidated plan, but the city of Portland is one of those enrolled in MSRS that is waiting until the July 1, 1996, deadline to decide on joining the consolidated plan. Portland's annual payment would have increased from $6.7 million to $7.2 million if it had joined this year. Details.
