The Freeport Town Council on Tuesday said it would apply for a state grant that would fund up to 80 percent of the $200,000 cost of building bike paths on Desert Road. The Desert Road project is the first being pursued by the Alternative Transportation Committee, which envisions a networks of walkways and bike paths throughout Freeport. Details.
