Abstract

Portland yesterday honored its city firefighters and civilians with a ceremony at City Hall. Congress Street was closed to traffic from Pearl Street to Temple Street so that fire trucks could line the way. Fire Chief Joseph E. Thomas Jr. and city officials presented awards to 47 firefighters and two civilians for acting beyond the call of duty. Partial list of those receiving awards.
