Abstract

The parents of the four teenagers who died when a trucker plowed over the Ford Escort they were riding in last October on the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth have formed Parents Against Tired Truckers. The group, based in Lisbon, is trying to raise public awareness about the dangers posed by truckers who drive when tired, and hope to help toughen Maine laws regulating professional truckers. Since the group formed, Daphne Izer, whose son Jeff died in the Falmouth accident, has received phone calls from people across the country with their own tales of tired truckers. Details.
