Abstract

John Rosenbrink, a political scientist at Bowdoin College, hosted the first North American meeting of the Green Party in Maine in January 1984, with 17 people attending. There are currently 300 to 400 active members in the Maine Greens, and Jonathan Carter is running for governor as a Green. Carter, an unemployed biology teacher, needs only five percent of the gubernatorial vote this November to earn the Greens the status of official political party. Details.
