Abstract

Cape Elizabeth Town Manager Michael McGovern has ordered the U.S. Coast Guard to stop using Fort Williams as a launch site for helicopters. The town-owned park is visited by 1 million people annually, and some residents have complained about the helicopter landings. The Coast Guard has been using the park once or twice a week to pick up equipment and fly it to Halfway Rock, where a solar-powered beacon and foghorn are being installed. Details.
