Abstract

The cities of Portland and South Portland are asking the Maine Supreme Judicial Court to overturn a February ruling by the Maine Public Utilities Commission that ordered the Portland Water District to increase city water rates faster than town rates. Kimball Kenway, attorney for the cities, will argue that the PUC's ruling was arbitrary, and that the water district can have different fee schedules because it costs more to service the towns.
